Right now I’m sitting in sunny Fuengirola, Malaga in Spain but the weather back home in London is still cold. This year we’ve had exceptionally long winter and I have never seen this in the ten years I’ve been living in London for.

We all know how winter fashion can get really boring since the UK is mainly a cold country.

As I got tired of being cold and wet, one fine day I dropped my son at school and made my way to Soho. OK, it was snowing and it was wet so staying indoors would have been a better idea but that’s what I already do. I work from home and blogging is my full-time job.

Soho is full of cafes and eating places but I chose to go to Leto Caffe. The Soho branch is a bit dated and not so Instagram-able but it was all overshadowed by their awfully delicious and scrumptious cakes, pancakes, waffles and savoury foods.

I ordered a Strawberry & Banana Pancake with some cappuccino.

Usually, when my order reaches me, I start eating without wasting any time because I love food.

This time, I made sure I took some photos.

So as this post was really all about how to style for an unexpectedly long winter, so here are some ways to layer up, choose the right pieces and take some great photos.

For the last 2 winters, I have started trying not to layer up but choose pieces warm enough so I don’t have to wear loads of layers and look like The Big Bird from Sesame Street.

Before I would wear a vest, a thermal, a top, a cardigan or a thick sweater and then a jacket. The number of these layers would increase with a wool blend coat as I feel extremely cold if its not a proper thick jacket.

Now I just buy thick jumpers and wear them just with a thermal and a jacket. It not only keeps me very safe and warm but it also looks very trendy.

I don’t like to bare my legs so I love my jumpers to be long so I can style them with a pair of straight or skinny jeans. This time I styled my lovely burgundy jumper with a pair of jeans by Pepe Jeans.

I then wore my old Tan long leather boots from Miss Selfridge.

And not to forget my big thick jacket from Kenneth Cole.

TIP: To take Instagram worthy winter fashion photos, let your coat or jacket hang loosely over your shoulders.

I also styled my look with a simple pearl necklace from Primark with an ‘N’ pendant from & Other Stories.

As it was snowing, I chose to stand right in front of Leto Caffe to ditch the cold and take one or two good photos for my blog.
