Bluestone National Park Wales: A Blogger’s Trip

Bluestone National Park resort is an upmarket holiday park, located in Pembrokeshire.

The last time I received an invitation to travel for my blog was to Cannes which was last year. This year I was invited to the Bluestone National Park in Wales for a 4 nights complementary stay and it was awesome! You guys probably think that us bloggers get to have so much fun but truly its a job and is to be taken very seriously. Hence, here I begin my experience.

My husband was on night duties for a whole week (yes he’s a ‘junior doctor’) so we began our journey on a Monday afternoon from Isle Of Wight to south of Wales. Those of you who don’t know, Isle of Wight is an island in the south of England. So it was an hour’s ferry ride and then a 5 hours drive to the park.

It was a nice drive through some lovely green sceneries, particularly the mustard fields. Seeing the big Severn Bridge made me want to broadcast it on periscope (@natashaklondon) . It was great!

Thanks to Tom Tom, it wasn’t very hard to find the Bluestone National Park. They also gave very good directions in their emails when we booked the stay. The guard at the entrance was very helpful. Cars are not allowed into the park but as it was after 11pm, we were allowed to take our car inside but had to remove it before 10:30 am the next morning. Its a strictly car free zone, unless the guest is disabled.

As we drove into the lodge area, it was dark and we could see rabbits quickly hopping off the road. Rabbits are so cute, I love them!

As we entered into the lodge, it was just amazing! It was an upside down lodge with 3 bedrooms. There were 2 en suites upstairs. 1 bedroom and a huge bathroom downstairs. A very good sized kitchen/dining area and a very spacious lounge.

Bring your own groceries as there will be none provided. Only a small bottle of dishwashing liquid, a sponge and 3-4 dishwashing tablets. Bring your own tea, coffee, milk and enough things for the breakfast at least.

I was too late to read them but make sure you read the FAQs before going. I had to sacrifice my caffeine in-take for one whole day, thinking there will be tea for 1 day at least, like it was in Cannes. Its a self catering lodge so make sure you are thoroughly prepared. There is a little general store in the village, in case you want to quickly buy something in lesser quantity but its still best to bring everything from home to save money.

Anyway, we had a really good night sleep. The rooms were very clean. Beds were very comfortable with crisp white sheets.

Day 1: Adventures of the Adventure Park

Mummy wake up, its the birds“, squealed Mustafa, my 3 years old son.

When I opened my eyes, all I could hear were the birds chirping. It felt very soothing to hear sparrows sing early in the morning, probably it was the first time for Mustafa.

We got up, had some breakfast, got ready and went to the adventure park. Adventure park is included in your booking. It was raining and Mustafa loved splashing in the puddles. It was a nice walk up to the adventure park.

In the adventure park there were 2 play areas for children and a nice resturaunt.

We had a very nice time and most importantly, Mustafa really enjoyed himself.

Day 2: Camp Smokey and the Nature Walk

On the second day, we spent half the day inside the lodge as it was raining, raining and raining. As it stopped raining, we decided to take a walk up to Camp Smokey and it was a great decision. We hiked down to the camp. There was a lovely barbecue going on, but we did not stop to eat. Instead we walked through it came across a natural water stream. There was a nice trail through the forest and over the hills. It smelt fresh and lovely. How much we miss living fast lives in big cities like London. I will let pictures below do rest of the talking. We enjoyed a lot!

Day 3: The Blue Lagoon and a drive around Wales

Now, I must say, this was the highlight of our trip. Mustafa’s first experience in a pool and for me it was water fun, after I think 2 decades.

First of all, photography is not allowed in the Blue Lagoon area, so there are no pictures, sorry.

It was the best place to feel like a kid again. I remember the first time I went on a water slide was in my dad’s laps. It brought back a lot of memories. My dad taught me how to block my nose and mouth when entering water through the slide. I mean I know its not rocket science but you know what I mean, I was just a kid.

The pool had a lazy river which was amazing, we took Mustafa around it many times and he really enjoyed it.

There were 4 water slides, but I loved only one, it was outdoors and had two pools in the air. It was amazing!

There were also more pools for children.

After having fun for 2-3 hours, we went for a drive around the costal area. The beaches were amazing. Wales is beautiful!

We decided to get off at Anglesey. It was evening time and the sun was setting. There were very dark rocks around the beach that seemed like something out of a movie.

Food at Bluestone National Park:

I was not at all impressed by the food available inside the village. Especially the Italian food that was a fusion of welsh food and Italian food, it just did not work for us. I will recommend you to make good use of the kitchen and your cooking skills. You can also drive out of the park to the nearest available high street to have good food.
