Fan Film UK Takeover took place in London today. It was a perfect day. The sun was shining bright in the London sky. The weather was beautiful and even better for a fan like me.
Fan Film UK Takeover witnessed the unveiling of Gaurav’s wax statue by none other than Shahrukh Khan himself. (Click on the video below to view.) Today I attended press conference of the Fan Film UK takeover. It was lead by Shahrukh Khan who represented his entire team. The press conference took place at the famous wax statue museum: The glorious Madame Tassauds, Baker Street, London.
I often say, the only Shahrukh Khan I have been in love with is the 90’s Shahrukh Khan. But I am a fan nonetheless. It was an amazing opportunity to sit and watch Shahrukh Khan talk for 1 odd hour. I am probably still in denial. I will just pinch and slap myself (no not literally haha), in the meantime, please read what the film is all about.

A gripping observation of the darker side of celebrity obsession, FAN presents Bollywood’s most celebrated actor, Shah Rukh Khan, in a double role as superstar and fan, balancing two character roles to perfection. The actor’s look as a twenty-something, doppelganger fan for the film was created by renowned, Hollywood special effects makeup artist, Greg Cannom – nine-time Academy Award nominee and three-time Oscar winner for the looks he created in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Mrs. Doubtfire and Dracula. In 2005, Cannom received a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy for the development of specially modified silicone material used for makeup applications in motion pictures. For FAN, 3D scanning was implemented as part of the process to create Shah Rukh Khan’s young man look in the film.
In keeping with the theme of the movie, filming locations included one of the world’s most iconic tribute destinations to the world of celebrity, Madame Tussauds London, providing a pivotal backdrop to the deadly chase that ensues when a fan’s love of his idol turns sinister, with potentially fateful consequences. The slick, high-octane thriller presents Indian cinema at its most innovative, complemented by an energised soundtrack courtesy of music composers Vishal-Shekhar, while Italian composer Andrea Guerra, noted for his film scores for Facing Windows, Hotel Rwanda and The Pursuit of Happyness among others, has crafted the background score.
Synopsis:
In a world of labels it’s easy to forget who made sportsmen, musicians and matinee idols into stars, superstars and megastars – the fans. Every fan has their own personal relationship with their hero – almost love stories and personal relationships in their own right.
FAN is the story of Gaurav (Shah Rukh Khan), a twenty-something man whose world revolves around the mega movie star Aryan Khanna (Shah Rukh Khan) or ‘God’ as he refers to him. From the by-lanes of Delhi, Gaurav embarks on a journey to the city of dreams, Mumbai, in order to wish his God on his birthday. After all, he is Aryan’s biggest FAN and even bears an uncanny resemblance to him. How difficult could it be for the world’s biggest FAN to get an audience with the world’s biggest star?
When things don’t go to plan, Gaurav’s love and passion for his idol turn into a dangerous obsession that crosses a fine line. In an edge-of-the-seat thriller, both Gaurav and Aryan’s personalities are tested to the core as the two men discover characters within themselves that even they didn’t know existed. Audiences are left to question who to sympathise with and whom to root for as the two embark on a twisted and dangerous journey.
