Sukin is basically my new favourite range of skincare products. Straight on the packaging they declare themselves to be sulphate and paraben free, 100% vegan, no animal testing, recyclable packaging as well as carbon neutral. All of the ingredients on the back are easy to understand and completely natural.
The brand was launched in 2007 by a Melbourne based family who wanted to create high quality, affordable and effective natural skin and hair care. Simon and Alison along with their father Peter put in long hours creating the product line from the ground up and have become one of Australia’s leading skincare exporters; Sukin is now available in over 10 countries around the world.
I tried out a few of their products: the Energising Body Scrub; Super Greens Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser; Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Masque; and Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub.
Skin Super Greens Body Scrub with Coffee & Coconut
I was the most excited about trying this one. Coffee and Coconut are some of my favourite foods so I was keen to try out their skincare benefits. The aromatic coffee beans and coconut shell did not disappoint as it smelled like my morning coffee and yet had that subtle exfoliating nature to revitalize the skin. My skin felt prepped and moisturised, but not rubbed raw.
I used this product in the shower before my regular body wash.
Other main ingredients: Aloe Vera, Coconut, Jojoba and Sesame Seed Oils, Rosehip and Vitamin E.
How to use
- Massage into damp skin in the shower.
- Rinse well with warm water.
- Use once or twice a week.
Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub
This was the first of the Super Greens range that I tried. The ingredients sounded like a healthy smoothie and I was curious to see what the smell would be like on my skin instead of in my cup. It smelled nutritious yet refreshing and I felt confident it was working some sort of magic on my face.
I loved the use of jojoba beads, meaning that I wasn’t contributing to the world plastics problem with synthetic beads. The exfoliation process felt delicate and effective at the same time.
I also used this in the shower before using my regular body wash but also at the sink when my face felt like it needed a morning pick-me-up.
Other main ingredients: Kale, Spirulina, Parsley, Bamboo, Pineapple and Licorice Root Extracts and Cranberry.
How to use
- Apply a small amount to fingertips.
- In a circular motion, massage into face and neck.
- Rinse well with warm water.
- Use once or twice a week.
Sukin Super Greens Clay Masque
Clay masques are all over the market right now, but I’d yet to try one. Second to the Coffee Scrub, this product really piqued my interest.
I applied this after using the Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub and my regular body wash.
It had a rich and creamy feel with a slightly grainy earthen texture. I felt a slight tingling as the mask dried and tightened on my skin. It was easy to rinse off and left my skin feeling like a blank (and cleansed) canvas.
Other main ingredients: Kale, Spirulina, Super Greens blend, Baobab, Avocado and Rosehip.
How to use
- Apply to damp face
- Relax and wait 15 minutes
- rinse off with warm water and wash cloth
Sukin Super Greens Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser
This little moisturizer is non-descript but packed with so many goodies that my skin was left feeling super hydrated for hours afterwards.
I was pleasantly surprised with the light scent as well. Like the facial scrub it smells exactly like a healthy green smoothie or juice. That kind of freshness is intrinsically calming and confidence-boosting.
Other main ingredients: Kale, Spirulina, Chlorella, Parsley, Acai, Goji extracts, Rosehip, Avocado and Jojoba.
How to use
- Apply to face, neck and décolletage
- Can be applied either in the morning and/or evening after cleansing
- For best results, apply after the Sukin Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum
